IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (1471) Tornio / UCAC4 506-146722 event on 2023 Oct 15, 05:42 UT Visible from S USA, Mexico Summary ------- On 2023 Oct 15 UT, the 33.8775304869397 km diameter asteroid (1471) Tornio will occult a 10.1 mag star in the constellation Pegasus for observers along a path across S USA, Mexico. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 4.72 mag to 14.81 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 4.380 seconds. This update is based on, astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by the IAU Minor Planet Center. This work has made use of data from the European Space Agency (ESA) mission Gaia (http://www.cosmos.esa.int/gaia), processed by the Gaia Data Processing and Analysis Consortium (DPAC, http://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/gaia/dpac/consortium).
